Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome: a classical case report

ABSTRACT The Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome constitutes a rare manifestation characterized by triad of signs and symptoms: recurrent orofacial edema, fissured tongue, facial paralysis. difficulty in diagnosing is that edema common to various diseases besides the lack awareness health professionals frequent metachronous its symptomatology. aim this report present classical case clinical therapeutic approach. A patient who sought for assistance at Stomatology Clinic presented synchronous triad: left lip cheek nonpitting accompanied paralysis on same side tongue. was diagnosed due presence symptoms after initially ruling out Crohn’s disease, Sarcoidosis, tuberculosis intestinal or respiratory complaints absence other evidence. treatment administered steroids, most with satisfied prognosis we found literature patients. We recommend implementation intralesional injections betamethasone dipropionate as four infiltrations subsided 80% no further relapses within one-year follow-up.
